Losing our dear Buttons aged 25 years to liver disease meant we were without enough small ponies for our younger children. After a sleepless night after saying goodbye to Buttons, I went on an online search in the small hours and found a pony on Right Horse Right Home, advertised as a “bomproof” hack.
After joining said organisation (you need to do that to get contact numbers and details), I registered my intersest in her on line. The next day I followed this up with photos of Wildwoods and what we needed her for and offering a home for life.
We contacted Alicia the following day, vetting wsa booked and I collected her from a farm in Bristol a few days later.
She has been a real find and is indeed a bomproof hack, leading my ride through a road works with traffic lihgts, diggers, cones adn lots of people in high viz that phased my mount Mabel who wasnt keen on going through. You don’t ecxpect that sort of thing in The Avenue, just around the corner on our novice hack round the block, but Nelly just marched through and Mabel was then happy to follow. I dont think the rider was even kicing her on, but she knew that was the way we wanted to go and just went!
She has joined us on the pub rides a few times this summer and is happy to canter on Epsom Downs or Walton Heath with a big group and the exportise summer camp students enjoyed a gallop on the downs or a walk round the block on her.
