I received a message fom Juliet Clarke at Evesham to ask if I would be interested in a 15 year old 13.2 mare that had done it all! We have bought several horses and ponies from Juliet and she knows I am always potentially interested in good ponies and horses for the riding school. She sent me some impressive videos of Doodles going through her paces from dressage test, hacking and jumping a course of fences. We have always bought from her unseen as she gives an accurate assessment of the horse or pony and knows what will suit our requirements. She often sells within minutes of adding them to her sales list so it is likely that the horse or pony could sell before you get there to try it!

A price was negotiated and a vet check and strangles blood test was booked. This is something we have to do under the council licensing. Starangles is a very contagious upper respiraory infection in horses, and the horse or pony can be a carrier without looking sick. I arranged to collect her after the results in a couple of days, but unfortunately the blood test did not arrive at the lab. The vets came to take another one and I was wanting to delay collection but meanwhile Juliet had been offered full price by other buyers, so I went and grabbed her quick!

She went straight into isolation here and the blood test result came back clear. Any horse or pony coming to us needs a minimum 2 – 3 week isolation and trial period, but Doodles passed everything with flying colours and was soon being ridden by our clients. Our young riders and lightweight adults are loving her and she seems to be enjoying the variety of work, is a keen jumper and loves hacking out on Epsom Downs. Another fabulous asset to our Equine Team! Thank you Juliet.
