Professional exam training courses

Wildwoods has a long history of delivering training courses to both industry professionals and individuals looking to develop their own skills.

As a British Horse Society and Association of British Riding Schools registered centre we can deliver a range of courses from both organisations.

British Horse Society Exam Training 2024/25

We are a BHS Assesment Centre up to Stage 3 and provide training for all levels

The BHS Challenge Awards route qualifies participants for a direct entry to BHS Stage 2 Care, Lunge and Ride when the signed off booklets are presented and the BHS Skills Record is signed off by your instructor.
Some riders may be more advanced and wishing to jump, so groups will be split accordingly. There is a care & lunge only option.
Please note that the Silver Challenge Jump sign off is for 30cms and candidates will need to jump 2 horses around a 75cms showjump course for the BHS Stage 2 Assessment.
This course will cover the 7 Silver awards. The Ride Out Safely will be run separately at additional cost (dates to be advised). Go to the BHS website link to find out more:

BHS Silver Challenge Awards

Fridays 3rd April – 30th July @ £95 p/wk or £1620 the complete course. 
Riding at 17.30 – 18.45 for those wanting to work on flat / jump and 18.00 19.15  for flat only. Participants can do care only @ £20 p/wk. 19.15 – 20.30

This 18 week course is preparation for BHS Stage 2 Assessment or can be for those just wanting to improve and know more about horse care and welfare. 

Riding out Safely (Silver Challenge Award)

Sunday 11th & 25th October 14.00 – 16.30 @ £195
Training afternoon x 2 & sign off.

This replaces the BHS Ride Safe exam.

BHS Stage 2 Coach

Sundays 2nd November -1st March 15.00 – 17.00 (16 weeks) @ £95 p/w
 
BHS Stage 2 Coach assessments can be booked through the British Horse Society Examinations office.

BHS Challenge Awards

     Saturdays 14.00 – 16.00 @ £80 p/w.
     Theory only 15.00 – 16.00 @ £20 p/w

  • Theory and ridden
  • 8 awards for each level
  • Bronze, Silver, Gold & Platinum awards
  • Additional one to one support can be provided

Donald Kear

Donald is a BHS Exam Assessor and sometimes teaches at Wildwoods on Friday mornings. Riders need to be working at BHS Stage 4 level.
