Hacking out

Where do you fancy riding?

We are surrounded on all sides by superb hacking country with very little roadwork, although only 20 miles from Central London. National Trust land on Headley Heath or Mickleham Downs is ideal for the less experienced rider, whilst Walton Heath and Epsom Downs offer the oportunity to canter over more open country.

On Bank Holiday Mondays a three hour ride will admire the view at Box Hill, a national beauty spot, or explore further afield on Walton Heath or Colley Hill.

Hacks are always escorted and can be from one hour to three hours, in groups of eight riders maximum. Private or semi-private hacks are also available. The rider is matched to a horse or pony suitable for their level of experience.

For additional variety a half day trip in the horsebox will take you to explore around Frensham ponds near Guildford where you can enjoy a wade through the stream and some long canters on sandy tracks.

Prior to any hack we ask that all new clients come for an assessment as we obviously have to consider everybody's safety when leaving the yard with our horses. If for any reason we feel that it would be unsuitable to continue with the hack we will offer the client riding lessons in place of the hack. Please note that this is for your own safety and should not be seen as anything different.

Our Junior Riding Club enjoys half day picnic rides over Mickleham & Headley with a stop at the caravan for a hot lunch. This is a new venture, but enjoyed by children & ponies alike!
